Concert in the park, Romine style

Every summer our city puts on free concerts in the park on Saturday nights. Each week they have a new band, usually they play classic rock * my personal favorite*, dance music or country. It's a great reason to get out of the house after the afternoon heat has disappeared. But we didn't want to just sit and listen to music, we wanted to make a fun evening out of it. So I made some homemade salsa, brought some chips & sandwiches for us. We brought the football and a kite. It was going to be a fun evening with some great background music, and best of all it wasn't going to cost us a penny. They even had food booths set up, and it was yummy carnival foods like kettle corn and funnel cakes! yummm!! Even the ice cream man was there!

Faith and Travis had so much fun flying the kite. Travis let Faith fly the kite * or at least she thought she was..daddy was holding onto it just in case*. She thought that was the best! Ethan and my nephew Marcus joined a group of kids playing flag football. I think they played for almost 2 hours.

The band was great. They played lots of 80's music so I was happy as a clam. There's something very relaxing about sitting out in the evening breeze, kicking off your shoes and listening to good music. Travis and I decided that we're going to go every Saturday until the end of Summer. It's a great way to spend time with the family.
